About Our Quilt Shop in Oklahoma
Okay, this isn’t Cheryl! This is Angel, the store mascot, trying her hand at sewing!
Cheryl retired as Director of Human Resources at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in July 2012 after 28 years of service. Cheryl can now be found enjoying life, painting, and quilting daily at her home-based quilt shop, Cheryl’s Quilt Corner.
A quilter for more than thirty years, Cheryl’s home-based shop has expanded so much that an addition had to be built just for the shop. In her Guymon gallery, she offers custom machine quilting and a full-service quilt shop providing tons of only top quality “necessities” quilters must have to allow the creative juices to flow.
Cheryl is a charter member of Timeless Treasures Quilt Guild in Guymon and was the first President of the organization, established in 1996. Some quilters belong to only one quilt guild; however, Cheryl is also an active member of Panhandle Piecers Quilt Guild in Guymon.
“A long time ago I figured out quilting had become my ‘bottle of nerve pills’. Anytime I need to unwind, I sit down at my sewing machine and work on some quilting project. For me quilting provides instant gratification as I create an heirloom that I know will long outlive me. I’m leaving my mark on the world that will be here at least 200 years after I’m gone,” states Cheryl.
You can find Cheryl sharing her love of quilting whenever asked, whether it be from a child just learning or from long-time quilters. Cheryl wants every quilter to feel that sense of gratification she has found in quilting. “Quilting energy is like no other energy in the world, it radiates and grows and grows and grows, let me show you just what I mean!”
